Der Name DEMI kommt von Demeter, der griechischen mythologischen Gestalt und Göttin der Heirat, Landwirtschaft und der Gesellschaftsordnung. Die im Jahre 1981 unter dem Namen Nicca Chemical Co. Ltd. gegründete japanische Marke bietet über 1.200 Produkte für Haarpflege, Haarwachstum, Coloration, Locken und Styling in Salon-Qualität. Die Marke DEMI übernahm ihre Haarfärbetechniken aus dem Gebiet der Wollverarbeitung, und ist bekannt für ihre pflegenden Haarfarben, die die Haarfasern mit Eihautzellen nähren.
